Prescription Ordering Process

The Neurodevelopmental Service uses an online platform for you to request prescriptions for your child.

How to Request Prescriptions Online:

QR Code for ND Repeat Prescriptions

Please allow 5 working days for your prescription request to be processed. You will receive a text message when your prescription is ready for collection, please bring your ID when picking up the prescription.

If you are a Cardiff patient, your prescription will be ready for collection at St David’s Children’s Centre. If you are a Vale patient, your prescription will be ready for collection at Llandough Children’s Centre.

Please kindly bring ID when collecting prescriptions.

This process aims to improve efficiency and convenience for you, ensuring a smoother prescription fulfilment experience.

The online form provides information around timescales of when prescription will be ready for collection after a request is made. We recommend that you opt in for our SMS notifications as this will notify you via text when a prescription is ready for collection.

Blood tests can only be booked if the clinician has advised one is required. They will provide the following information on how to book a blood test during your appointment:

Starfish Children’s Outpatient Department

Children’s Hospital for Wales

Please telephone 029 2084 3368, between 9AM and 4PM Monday to Friday, to book your appointment.

Alternatively if a child or young person is comfortable with having bloods taken, you may be directed to the phlebotomy service based in St David’s Hospital Outpatients which is available Monday – Friday, 9am – 11am.

Your clinician will contact you if there are any abnormalities that they need to discuss with you. If the blood test is normal, the clinician will not call, instead you will be notified either by letter or at your next appointment.

Observation Clinic Attendance Requirements

These clinics play a crucial role in monitoring the child/young person’s progress and adjusting their treatment plan accordingly. Non-attendance may result in the following consequences:

  • Prescription Non-Issuance: Failure to attend the required observation clinics may lead to a delay in prescription being issued.
  • Patient Discharge: Prolonged non-attendance without mitigating reasons may result in the discharge of the child/young person from our services.

Upcoming Observation Clinics

We will provide advance notice for all observation clinics, giving you time to schedule your appointments.

If you encounter any difficulties with the electronic prescription request system or need clarification on observation clinic schedules, please don’t hesitate to contact us on 02921 836789.
